Bercy has released its roadmap for the month. Not a scoop, a routine. The year is marked by several key dates, the statement says. VAT payment, corporate income tax, nominative social declaration… To see things more clearly. You would think you were hearing the banker gently reminding you that the rent also falls on the first. Except that this time, September 1, 2026 is not insignificant.
The page, updated on August 26, immediately places the electronic invoicing reform. All businesses, whatever their size, must be able to receive electronic invoices. Large companies and mid-sized firms (ETI) must also issue and transmit transaction data. It is official, confirmed on all sides: economie.gouv.fr, impots.gouv.fr, AIFE. The calendar has not moved. Some complained, others asked for a postponement. Bercy held firm. We are no longer in the “soon,” we are in the “next Tuesday.”
Next, the unforgiving grind. September 5: Urssaf contribution for self-employed workers who pay on the 5th. September 7: August DSN for employers with 50 or more employees, plus telepayment. September 10: PASRAU. September 11: DES and summary statement of clients for August operations. September 15: DSN for those under 50, withholdings on investment income, payroll tax, corporate tax installment (and balance if closing on May 31), second CVAE installment. Between the 15th and the 24th: monthly VAT return under the normal actual regime, personal date in the professional space. September 20: more Urssaf for other self-employed workers. September 30: results declarations for those who closed on June 30, base exemption option, micro-entrepreneurs declaration.
All of this also appears, date for date, on the tax calendar on impots.gouv.fr for September 2026. The primary sources cross-check. No major contradiction. Bercy’s page itself says so: it is not exhaustive. Go see the full calendar and the Urssaf site. A sound word of caution. One will not complain that a ministry reminds people of the time instead of letting businesses discover the surcharge the next day.
On the ground, the real noise revolves around electronic invoicing. Barometers speak of 66% of businesses saying they are ready. Others worry about a recent cyberattack at the DGFiP. The administration announces tolerance for documented good faith. No official grace period, but no guillotine either on day one. The official discourse remains firm on the calendar and reassuring on support. The accredited platforms are there. Remains to plug in the socket.
What is false or exaggerated? Nothing serious in the list itself. It does not claim to cover everything. It does not turn an ordinary deadline into a revolution. The classic blind spot: each business has its own profile (headcount, regime, closing date, payment option). The 15th is not the same for everyone. And September 1 of electronic invoicing weighs heavier than the 15th of the corporate tax installment for many structures. There is a tendency to drown the digital fish in the soup of recurring deadlines.
August 2026 therefore ends like the others: with a reminder note from the State. Useful. Accurate. A bit schoolish. The point is that the major digital reform arrives right when people were already sticking dates on the fridge. Businesses that had anticipated smile. The others discover that “seeing more clearly” also means connecting an accredited platform before the energy supplier sends its first e-invoice. The calendar does not lie. It just waits to be read through to the end.
Provisional conclusion: Bercy’s statement holds up. It is a public reminder service, not a scoop. The facts are established by the official sources. The real subject of the month is the electronic switchover of September 1. After the noise of hoped-for postponements and last-minute worries, the dates remain. And the dates do not negotiate.
